This preserved raccoon penis bone, or baculum, is a naturally occurring structure found in many mammal species, including the North American raccoon (Procyon lotor). These bones have long fascinated naturalists and oddity collectors for their variety of shapes and cultural associations.

Commonly nicknamed the “Mountain Man’s Toothpick,” raccoon bacula were carried as novelty items in frontier America. Some were worn as talismans, carved into charms, or passed along as conversation pieces in rural and hunting communities.

This specimen is cleaned and unmounted, making it suitable for:

  • Bone and oddity collections

  • Folk art and cultural display
