Description

The pronghorn (Antilocapra americana) is a native North American species renowned for being the continent’s fastest land mammal, capable of reaching speeds up to 55 mph. Although often called an antelope, the pronghorn is not a true antelope but the sole surviving member of its own family. Its distinctive horns curve slightly backward and are uniquely branched, unlike other ungulates.

This species evolved in open prairies and arid plains, developing exceptional vision and endurance to evade predators. Pronghorns are known for their seasonal migrations and are considered one of North America’s most iconic game animals.
