Description
The Common Duiker (Sylvicapra grimmia) is a small and adaptable antelope found across most of sub-Saharan Africa. Unlike many antelope species, duikers prefer solitary life and are often seen darting through thickets or hiding in tall grass, which earned them the name “duiker” – meaning “diver” in Afrikaans.
They thrive in savannas, woodlands, and scrub environments, and are highly flexible in their diet, feeding on leaves, fruits, seeds, and even insects when necessary.
This shoulder mount highlights the duiker’s compact form and upright posture, making it a great educational addition for wildlife displays or African-themed collections.
